Case Study: Mr H

What was the main reason that led you to choose Garden Rooms (Scotland) Ltd over anyone else?

About 3 months before I moved house, I realised that a garden studio was likely to be needed so I did a fair amount of research on the internet looking at what was available. From my experience with a glass outdoor studio, I had an understanding of what I needed. I also wished to buy locally if what I needed was available. With this in mind, my first visit was to the Garden Rooms (Scotland) Ltd show site. Although the range on display was then limited and there was nothing with bifold doors, after I explained my requirements to Lee, she introduced me to Joe. I showed him a photo of the Art Deco house we had bought. Joe responded by saying he could build a studio to match that and this was the determining factor in choosing Garden Rooms (Scotland) Ltd.

How did we help you in dealing with the decisions you had to make in selecting and designing your perfect garden room?

At that stage in the development of the company, I found the flexibility in meeting my wishes and needs very good. I knew what I wanted but did not have a full understanding of what was available. I was glad of the information on the issues about bifold doors and underfloor heating and welcomed the option of having shelves built into my design and being introduced to the idea of a LED light panel. This was a fairly casual process but now the company has developed a well-structured process of introducing customers to all the possibilities and options (with indications of the prices involved).

What did you think of our customer service throughout the process, from design to the completion of your garden room?

The construction process in my case was prolonged due to factors not within the control of the company. Notably delays in supply due to COVID/ BREXIT and also the fact that the bifold door supplier delivered the wrong bifold doors. My confidence in the company and Joe remained but as the company grows the appointment of a designated client liaison/ progress chaser in whom the customer has complete confidence will be essential. The nature of the building is that issues will appear and not all subcontractors may perform to a high standard.  This should be continued through to a post-build and follow up after about 6 months stage.

What are the advantages you can now enjoy by using one of our garden rooms?

I have an attractive, comfortable, well planned and flexible place to paint, read, listen to music and relax. It is useable all year round and enhances the house and garden and provides a lovely place to welcome visitors and those who wish to see my paintings.

What would you say to other people considering choosing Garden Rooms (Scotland) Ltd to design and build their garden room?

That good design and thoroughness of approach pay in the longer term, that they should work out carefully what they need and study all options and possibilities and that the appointment of a firm with integrity and a proven record of quality such as Garden Rooms (Scotland) Ltd is essential.

In addition, Garden Rooms (Scotland) Ltd were involved in the crucial design of landscaping works and the appointment of Dempster’s to carry out that work. The same high standards applied to that.
